100% Whey Gold Standard is one of our favorite and most popular whey protein brands. It touts itself as the “standard by which other proteins are measured”, and we would in some ways agree with that assertion.
Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey is exactly what the name promises: pure, high-quality whey protein. Each serving is around an ounce and contains about 24grams of protein and almost no carbohydrates or fats.
As an added bonus, it contains both glutamine and BCAAs (Branched-Chain Amino Acids). Both of these will get into more discussion on in a later post, but just for some general information, BCAAs are essential amino acids that studies have shown to aid in tissue recovery and blood sugar regulation, and glutamine is a powerful antioxidant which helps prevent cancer, heart disease, and mental deterioration.
Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey comes in over a dozen flavours. Personally, I’ve been using the Double Rich Chocolate for over five years and still enjoy it every time. It mixes easily into shakes with either milk or water. It’s also a great value (found here), especially in the 5 pound tubs and the 10 pound bags.
There may be other protein products that are better for certain purposes, but as a general, all-around whey protein product this one is hard to beat. I’m not the only one who thinks so; Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey has won numerous awards over the past few years.
As you can see, Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey protein has a number of benefits. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive, tasty, general-purpose whey protein product.
It can be found at Amazon, usually on sale or with free shipping here:
